Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York, as well as Professor, Department of Applied Physics & Math, School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, and Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the College of Science and Engineering, He is the Director of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Center, working to launch a new university-wide initiative to develop and apply MR methods and technologies to advance biomedical research and clinical diagnostics. He is also Director of the High Field MR Lab, Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research, and was co-founder and Principal of 5 MR Research Laboratories. Dr. Vaughan is the Principal Investigator for design, development, and biomedical applications on pre-clinical and human MR systems. He is a pioneer in High Field MRI, MRS, and fMRI technologies, methods, and applications, and designs and builds MRI systems that produce high-resolution images of anatomical, metabolic, and physiological systems and functions. His inventions, usually licensed by the biotech and medical industries, are found in most MRI systems. Previously, Dr. Vaughan worked in the University of Minnesota where he held the Quist-Henline Chair in Biomedical Research, and was the Director of Engineering at the Center of Magnetic Resonance Research, with appointments in Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.
